Review of Watch Pedometer

Get fit pedometer step counter smart watch

When I saw this pedometer advertised I was intrigued. It’s priced like a simple pedometer but you wear it on your wrist like an activity tracker. I thought it would be worth trying it out to see how it compares with a standard belt worn pedometer.

Functions

You get lots of functions on an activity tracker so what about this ‘smart’ watch? Well to be perfectly honest you don’t get a lot. In reality you get two useful functions

  1. It’s a watch
  2. It’s a pedometer

It will also tell you how far you have walked and the number of calories burned. In order for this to be reasonably accurate you need to enter your stride length into the watch and your weight.

I have tested this out and it works surprisingly well. It works by sensing wrist movement and so you do need to swing your arms when you walk which is the way you should walk if you are trying to burn more calories.

Arm motion can lend power to your walking, burning 5 to 10 percent more calories and acting as a balance to your leg motion.

Setting your stride length

  1. Press the mode button until you get to the distance display
  2. Press the ‘Set’ button and hold it until the display starts flashing. It will now be showing your stride length in cm.
  3. Press the ‘Mode’ button repeatedly until you get to the right value. It increases in 5cm increments until it reaches 200cm (that’s a very long stride). It then goes back to 30cm and you can cycle round again until you get to the right figure.
  4. Press ‘Set’ again to select this length.

Setting your weight

  1. Press the mode button until you get to the calories display
  2. Press the ‘Set’ button and hold it until the display starts flashing. It will now be showing your weight in Kg.
  3. Press the ‘Mode’ button repeatedly until you get to the right value. It increases in 2kg increments until it reaches 120kg. It then goes back to 30kg and you can cycle round again until you get to the right figure.
  4. Press ‘Set’ again to select this weight.
